Councillor Elaine Kirby today (Thursday 29 May) chaired her first meeting of Moray Integration Joint Board (IJB) following her appointment as Chair in April.
She succeeds Dennis Robertson, who continues to serve on the IJB as Vice-Chair.
Cllr Kirby said: โIโm delighted to have taken up the role of Chair of Moray IJB. Although I only joined the Board last year, Iโve been consistently impressed by the dedication and commitment of everyone involved in delivering health and social care services across Moray. The strength of partnership working between the local authority, NHS, independent sector, and voluntary agencies is particularly encouraging.
โThe IJB plays a vital role in supporting and improving the health and wellbeing of Morayโs citizens, and I look forward to working closely with my fellow Board members and all partners as we continue to navigate the challenges of rising demand for services and the need to make the best use of our limited resources.โ
At todayโs meeting, members noted a number of changes to the IJB membership. Dr Malcolm Simmons left the Board at the end of March, however Dr Robert Lockhart will continue as GP Lead. Kevin Todd has stepped down as the Moray Council staff representative and a new representative will be nominated by the council’s Trade Union Forum.
Janette Topp, Third Sector representative, has also stepped down and Ivan Augustus, Unpaid Carer representative, has indicated his intention to resign once a replacement is appointed. The recruitment process for both stakeholder roles will begin shortly.
Moray IJB is responsible for the strategic planning and oversight of community health and social care services in Moray, delivered through the operational partnership of Health & Social Care Moray. It is a legally constituted body made up of voting members from Moray Council and NHS Grampian health board, supported by professional and stakeholder representatives.
