The Moray Integration Joint Board (MIJB) has published its annual report detailing how it performed over the financial year from April 2023 to March 2024.
The report summarises key achievements to address ongoing health and social care challenges, along with initiatives and activities undertaken through the partnership of Health & Social Care Moray (HSCM) to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
The report also provides an assessment of performance in relation to a set of national and local targets, and progress on priorities outlined in the Board’s own Strategic Plan.
In his introduction to the 2023/24 performance report, Dennis Robertson, Vice Chair of the MIJB, said: “This report reflects a year of resilience, adaptation, and progress in the face of significant challenges. It covers a period marked by ongoing financial pressures across the public sector, locally and nationally, impacting both our ability to deliver services and the lives of those who rely on them.
“The achievements this year are a testament to the dedication of our workforce and partners in the third and independent sectors. Their professionalism, innovation, and person-centred approaches have been crucial in navigating the complex landscape of health and social care.
“While we celebrate our successes, we acknowledge areas of performance where improvement is needed. We are committed to addressing these challenges head on, always striving to enhance the quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of our services.”
The report also looks ahead to the changes required to maintain a resilient health and social care system in Moray. Key priorities for 2024/25 include addressing a budget shortfall by reducing costs by £8m this year and an expected £10m in 2025/26. Improved models of care and support planning are being developed to promote independent living and community connections.
The MIJB and HSCM are also preparing for the introduction of the National Care Service and its impact on budgets, spend and governance arrangements.
