The Moray Integration Joint Board (IJB) is seeking to recruit people with a keen interest in health and social care services to help steer its work to achieve best health, best care and best value services in partnership with the local community.

There is an opportunity for two individuals to join the board as non-voting members. One role involves championing people with lived experience of accessing health and care services, while the other is focused on representing the interests of third sector organisations involved in health or social care activities.

The IJB has responsibility for overseeing the strategic planning and development of services managed by Health & Social Care Moray, a partnership between Moray Council and NHS Grampian. The partnership provides health, social work, social care and justice services for children and adults, including older people.

The board is made up of voting members representing Moray Council and Grampian NHS Board, along with non-voting members representing the third sector, unpaid carers, people with lived experience of services and the workforce. Professional advisors from with the health and social care sector also support the board.

All members share a commitment to working together to ensure the right services are in place to effectively and efficiently respond to the health and care needs of Morayโ€™s citizens and support them achieve improved health and wellbeing outcomes.

The new appointees will continue the work of Val Thatcher and Graham Hilditch who recently stepped down from their roles as service user and third sector representatives, respectively.

Dennis Robertson, Chair of the Moray IJB, said: โ€œWe recognise the importance of working together in the development of services for the people of Moray. The service user and third sector champions are key to ensuring that the voices of people with experience of using health and social care and delivering activities within the third sector are heard at board level and informs our work.

โ€œI also wish to take the opportunity to thank our previous representatives, Val and Graham, who contributed their time and expertise to the Board, and brought invaluable insight.โ€

Councillor Tracy Colyer, who takes over as IJB chair in April, said: โ€œWe very much value the benefits of having members of the board with different experiences, backgrounds and points of view to contribute. I would encourage people to consider applying for these two important roles.โ€

The IJB holds formal business meetings six times a year in the chambers within the Moray Council HQ in Elgin, with the option to attend virtually. It also has two committees and holds regular development sessions.

Appointment to the voluntary positions will be through completion of a short application form and interview with a panel of IJB members. The application deadline is 5pm on Friday, 8 March, 2024, with interviews scheduled for Thursday, 28 March.
