Health & Social Care Moray (HSCM) and NHS Grampian are pleased to confirm that a new contractor has been appointed to provide GP services to the 3,000 patients of Aberlour Medical Practice.
Speyside Medical Group will take over the management and operation of the practice from April 2025. The partnership of eight GPs has extensive experience of delivering healthcare in both Highland and Grampian, running both Grantown-on-Spey Medical Practice and Glenlivet Medical Practice.
The practice at Aberlour has been managed by HSCM and NHS Grampian since February 2024 after the GP who had been running the practice as a sole partner, made the decision to withdraw from the general medical services contract.
A tender process initiated through Public Contracts Scotland invited bids from interested parties and following robust assessment and evaluation of the submissions received, Speyside Medical Group was identified as the preferred bidder.
Sean Coady, Head of Service and Deputy Chief Officer for HSCM, said: โWe are very happy to appoint Speyside Medical Group to take over the management and operation of Aberlour Medical Practice.
โThe GP partners will bring great clinical experience to Aberlour and have set out a clear vision of how they intend to work with us and the existing practice team to provide a high standard of care for patients.
โWe will be working closely with the group over the coming months to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible, and that practice patients have continued and uninterrupted access to local healthcare throughout.โ
Dr Julie McIlwaine of Speyside Medical Group said they were delighted to be able to extend their healthcare provision to Aberlour Medical Practice which borders the Glenlivet practice boundary.
โWe are very pleased to be working with HSCM and the Aberlour practice staff to provide primary care for the community of Aberlour. We already have connections with Aberlour as some of our Glenlivet patients live there or have family there.
โOur ethos is ‘A healthy and happy team working together towards a healthier and happier community’ and that will continue to be our focus at Aberlour. Over the next few months, the partners will be visiting the practice and meeting the staff to ensure we are ready to start delivering high quality healthcare provision from the beginning of April 2025.โ
The appointment of Speyside Medical Group was confirmed at todayโs meeting of the Moray Integration Joint Board which governs the work of HSCM.
The practice will remain under the running of HSCM until the transfer date. There will be no change for patients in the way they contact the practice and they remain registered with Aberlour.
