Community planning partners will launch the new Moray Children’s Services Plan at an event in Elgin’s St Giles’ Church on Thursday 26 October 2023 from 12.30pm.

Young people, their families and those who support them are invited to help celebrate the launch of the plan, ‘Our Promise to the Children of Moray’, and discover what it will mean for our communities over the next three years.

The Children’s Services Plan 2023-26 is our promise to the children and families of Moray, said Tracy Stephen, Chief Social Work Officer for Moray, who chairs the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) Leadership Group. The group leads on developing and delivering the plan on behalf of the Moray Community Planning Partnership.

“It explains how services for children and families, including community organisations, will work together to deliver the early help families tell us they need to both tackle the problems they are facing now and to avoid difficulties arising in the first place,” she continued.

“In Moray, partners from NHS Grampian, Police Scotland, Moray Council, Health & Social Care Moray, third sector and community organisations came together to develop a joint vision – ‘All children and young people will grow up loved, safe, respected and equal, because our services and workforce put people first and support families with the right help at the right time’.

“The Children’s Services Plan details how they will realise this vision and deliver the improvements children, young people and their families have told us will make the biggest difference to them.”

The six improvement priorities to be achieved are:

  • Improving outcomes for looked after and care experienced young people
  • Tackling child poverty
  • Supporting children and families who experience challenges due to disability/neurodiversity
  • Keeping children safe
  • Improving emotional and mental wellbeing
  • Strengthening family support

Following the official launch of the plan at 12.30pm, there’s an opportunity to learn more about how the plan will be turned to action and to meet local groups and services providing support to families across Moray. The drop-in market place of stalls will be open until 6pm. Entry is free and there’s no need to book a place.
