Progress being made to improve Adult Support and Protection in Moray Improvement activity taking place to protect adults in Moray who are at risk of harm, has been welcomed by Moray Integration Joint Boardโs Clinical and Care Governance Committee.
Positive progress in the delivery of the two year Moray Adult Support and Protection (ASP) improvement action plan was presented in an update report to the committee today (31 August 2023).
The improvement plan was agreed following the joint inspection of Morayโs multiagency arrangements for ASP which was carried out by the Care Inspectorate, Healthcare Improvement Scotland and Her Majestyโs Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland in 2022.
Their report on the work of the Moray ASP Partnership praised the commitment shown by staff to improving the safety, health, and wellbeing of adults at risk of harm. Key strengthens highlighted included the local response to the challenges set by the covid pandemic and the collaborative improvement agenda already developed by the partnership following self-evaluation work. The report recommended seven areas of improvement. These covered consistency in applying processes, the quality of timeline recording, risk assessment and protection plans, strengthening of governance measures and the need to hold case conferences and reviews as needed for all adults at risk of harm.
Derick Murray, Chair of the committee, said: โAdult support and protection remains a high priority for all partners. The positive progress of the improvement plan reflects the hard work and commitment of teams working together to ensure adults in our communities at risk of harm or neglect are safe, supported and protected.โ
โMoray was one of 25 ASP partnerships to be inspected during the initial phase of the Scottish Governmentโs Adult Support and Protection Improvement Plan 2019-2022. Phase two of the programme has just started and involves follow-up visits to partnerships to check on improvement activity.
