The Woodview care at home and housing support service in Moray has been praised by the Care Inspectorate following an inspection which highlighted significant strengths including strong relationships between staff and the people they support.
Health & Social Care Moray (HSCM), which manages the service, has welcomed publication of the report after an unannounced inspection in February. Woodview provides support for adults and children with learning disabilities and autism living across Moray, including purpose-built housing in Lhanbryde.
Inspectors assessed four key areas. The service was graded ‘Very Good’ (5 out of 6) for supporting people’s wellbeing and for care planning, and ‘Good’ (4 out of 6) for leadership and the staff team.
Inspectors saw relaxed and friendly interactions between staff and the people they support. They said staff had built trusting and meaningful relationships, with a core team approach helping staff to know individuals well and provide consistent support.
Families who spoke to the inspectors were positive about the support provided. They described the service as responsive, flexible and personalised. Several said their relatives were happier, more settled and more confident since getting support from Woodview staff.
Inspectors found personal plans were detailed, individualised and regularly reviewed. People’s goals and outcomes are central to their support, and they are able to take part in meaningful activities and opportunities in the community, which helps build confidence and supports wellbeing.
The management team was recognised for its strong oversight of Woodview. Inspectors said managers understood what is working well and where improvements are needed, supporting a culture of continuous improvement within the service.
The inspection identified areas where Woodview can improve. These include strengthening the service improvement plan, progressing actions more quickly, and completing the development of some service-specific policies and procedures.
Judith Proctor, Chief Officer of Health & Social Care Moray, said: “Staff should be very proud of this inspection report, which recognises the high-quality, person-centred support delivered by the Woodview team and the strong relationships they have built with the people they support and their families.
“Improvement is an important part of delivering high-quality services. We are already strengthening our improvement planning, so people continue to receive the best possible care and support.”
