Refurbishment work has begun at Ward 4 at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin, marking the start of major investment to improve the environment for people receiving inpatient mental health care in Moray.
Contractors Robertson Construction Northern are carrying out the initial 12-week phase, focusing on preparatory works primarily in areas away from patient care to support the wider refurbishment project.
The project will be delivered in phases and, once complete, will create a more modern, therapeutic environment and improve facilities for people receiving care, visitors and staff.
Ward 4, which is managed by Moray Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP), is an 18-bed inpatient unit providing assessment, treatment and care for adults experiencing significant mental ill health.
A project team from NHS Grampian, Moray HSCP and partner agencies is working closely together to plan the works. While some disruption is unavoidable during the project, every effort will be made to minimise any impact.
