People in Moray who look after a partner, family member or friend are being encouraged to share their views and help shape future support services for unpaid carers.
Health & Social Care Moray (HSCM) wants to better understand the experiences of adult unpaid carers, including whether current services are being accessed and how well they support carers both in their caring role and in their lives alongside caring.
People with current or recent experience of being an unpaid carer are urged to make their voices heard by taking part in the Moray Adult Unpaid Carers Survey which is now live.
The survey explores a range of topics including adult carer support plans and services commissioned by HSCM which are provided by the Quarriers Carer Support Service. It includes open questions about what would make the biggest difference to helping carers feel more recognised, valued and better supported.
Any one of us can become an unpaid carer at any point in our lives – supporting a partner, family member or friend due to frailty, disability, a long-term condition or illness, including mental ill health.
Judith Proctor, Chief Officer of HSCM, said: ” Unpaid carers are absolutely central to how social care operates in Moray, and the dedication, skill and compassion they bring cannot be overstated. They make an invaluable contribution to ensuring that people receive the care and support they need.
“We need to work closely with unpaid carers to ensure the right support is in place to enable them to provide care for loved ones, should they choose to, in a way that is meaningful and sustainable – while still being able to work, study and have full lives away from caring. Through the Moray unpaid carers strategy, we’re taking forward a wide range of actions to better support and empower unpaid carers, and it is essential that this work is shaped by their lived experiences.”
“We would strongly encourage every adult aged 18 and over with caring responsibilities, whether current or past, to complete the survey. The more people who take part, the greater the insight we will have to help us assess, improve and shape local services for carers.”
The survey is open until 2 March 2026 and there are two ways to take part.
- Online: on the Moray Engage community engagement hub via the project page https://engage.moray.gov.uk/adult-unpaid-carers-survey
- Printed copy: email unpaidcarers@moray.gov.uk or call 01343 563420
The results of the survey will be analysed and taken forward by HSCM’s unpaid carers strategic group. The findings and next steps will also be published on the Moray Engage project page.
